Professor of Economics
Hyo-Yong “Claire” Sung is a professor of economics at Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea. Sung has lectured and conducted research on feminism and economics, with a special interest in human capital investment and economic growth since 1999. Her research areas also include capital theory and investment behavior, corporate income tax and business fixed investment, and the estimation of the money demand function.
She served as Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Sungshin Women’s University. She was President of the Korean Women Economic Association from Feb. 2011 to Feb. 2013, and served as a member of the Board of the Korean Economic Association from Feb. 2019 to Feb. 2021. She was an editor and a member of the board of the Korean Association of Public Policy. She was also a member of the President’s National Economic Advisory Council in Korea.
She is currently President of the Korean Association of Public Policy.
